The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics is the country’s principal public research institute for economics and public policy, working under the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives and awarding its own degrees. The Centre of Excellence for CPEC is the dedicated research arm that produces policy work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor — trade corridors, port and transport logistics, industrial cooperation and the social and economic effects of corridor investment.
These are research and policy posts rather than administrative government jobs, and the requirements reflect that. Both Head of Policy positions ask for a PhD plus ten years of experience, of which at least five must be after the doctorate and must involve designing and supervising research projects. That is a senior academic profile, and the pay grades — PPS-10/11 — are set accordingly. The Research Associate post at PPS-07/08 is the realistic entry point for someone with an MS or MPhil and two years of research work behind them.

PIDE Jobs 2026 Eligibility Criteria
- Degrees must be from institutions recognised by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
- Age limits differ by post — 50 years for the two Head of Policy posts, 40 for Admin & HR Officer, 35 for Research Associate and 30 for Assistant Admin/HR — and are counted as they stand on the closing date.
- For the Head of Policy posts, at least five of the ten required years must be post-PhD experience in designing and supervising research projects. Pre-doctoral years do not substitute.
- The Admin & HR Officer post makes knowledge of PPRA rules and public procurement mandatory, not merely preferred, and the required experience must be in federal or provincial government or PSDP-funded roles.
- No domicile restriction and no quota are stated. Candidates from anywhere in Pakistan may apply.
- PIDE describes itself as an equal-opportunity employer and states that female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Government servants must apply through proper channel.
How to Apply
- Read the full announcement and the terms of reference at pide.org.pk/coe-cpec-jobs-aug-2026 so that you apply against the correct post.
- Apply online at careers.pide.org.pk, or through the National Job Portal if you already hold an NJP profile.
- Complete the profile with your academic record, publications where relevant, and employment history stated exactly as it appears on your certificates.
- For the research posts, make sure your research supervision experience and your post-PhD years are clearly separated in the employment section — that is the field the shortlisting will turn on.
- Submit before 31 August 2026 and keep the confirmation.
- Serving government employees should route the application through proper channel or arrange a No Objection Certificate in good time.
Important Notes
- These are contract appointments for an initial period of two years, extendable — not regular government posts, and no right of regularisation arises.
- No application fee is mentioned in the advertisement.
- The advertisement states that no TA or DA is payable for the test or interview.
- Only PPS pay scales are published. No rupee salary figure appears anywhere in the announcement, so candidates who need an exact package should ask PIDE directly.
- PIDE recruits directly and uses no agents or consultants. Do not pay anyone who claims to arrange a post.
- The closing date of 31 August 2026 is short. Complete the online profile early rather than on the final day.
