The PTS test is conducted by the Pakistan Testing Service (PTS), a testing organization that conducts recruitment and screening tests for many government and semi-government departments across Pakistan, such as WAPDA, police departments, and Rescue services. You register through the official website pts.org.pk by submitting the application form with the test fee before the deadline, and then download your roll number slip online by CNIC — PTS no longer sends slips by courier. This guide explains PTS registration 2026, fee and payment, roll number slip download, test pattern, and common mistakes in easy words.
PTS Test 2026 Overview
PTS (Pakistan Testing Service) is a testing agency that departments hire to conduct their recruitment tests, screening tests, and sometimes interviews. When a department (for example WAPDA or a provincial police force) announces jobs “through PTS”, candidates apply on the PTS website or prescribed PTS form, PTS conducts the MCQs test, and then sends the result to the department for the next stage.
PTS runs multiple projects at the same time, and each project has its own advertisement, form, fee, and schedule. PTS has offices in Islamabad (head office) plus regional offices in Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, and Quetta. All PTS-based job announcements with last dates are also listed in our Govt Jobs section.
Eligibility for PTS Tests
PTS itself does not decide eligibility — the recruiting department’s advertisement defines the education, domicile, age, and experience requirements for each post. PTS only conducts the test. So the golden rule is: read the job advertisement carefully, and only then fill the PTS form.
- Education: As per the department’s advertisement (Matric, Intermediate, Bachelor’s, or higher)
- Domicile: As per post (some posts are district or province specific)
- Age: As per advertisement — calculate your exact age with our Age Calculator for Govt Jobs
Required Documents for PTS Registration
- CNIC (13-digit number, needed for registration and slip download)
- Recent passport size photographs
- Attested copies of educational certificates
- Domicile certificate
- Original paid fee challan / deposit slip
- Experience certificates (only if the post requires)
Full attestation and document tips are in our Government Jobs Documents Checklist 2026.

PTS Test Fee & Payment Method
The PTS test fee is different for every project and is mentioned in each advertisement. The fee is deposited through the prescribed challan/deposit slip at the bank named in the advertisement, and the fee is non-refundable. Kyunke har project ki fee alag hoti hai aur waqt ke saath change hoti rehti hai, exact amount hamesha apne project ke latest advertisement mein confirm karein.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Fee amount | Project-wise — latest advertisement mein confirm karein |
| Payment method | Prescribed challan / deposit slip at the bank named in the advertisement |
| Refund | Non-refundable |
| Multiple posts | Separate form and fee for each post/project |
| Proof | Keep original paid challan safe till final result |
PTS Test Pattern 2026
The PTS test is an MCQs-based written test, and the paper composition depends on the post. Typical PTS papers include English, General Knowledge, Pakistan Studies, Islamic Studies, basic mathematics, and post-related questions (for technical posts). The invigilator hands over a question book and answer sheet; you mark answers on the answer sheet within the given time. Calculators, mobile phones, books, and any papers are strictly not allowed inside the test center. Sharpen the English, GK, and math portions with our FPSC, PPSC & NTS Test Preparation guide — the pattern is very similar.
PTS Roll Number Slip 2026 Download
The PTS roll number slip is downloaded online from pts.org.pk — online download is now the only valid method, as PTS has stopped sending slips by courier. Slips are usually uploaded about 7 to 15 days before the test date, sometimes phase-wise, so check the portal daily as your test approaches.
- Open www.pts.org.pk and go to the “Roll Number Slip” / “Download Slip” section.
- Select your project/department from the list.
- Enter your 13-digit CNIC without dashes (some projects also allow search by name).
- Download and print the slip — it shows your roll number, test date, time, and center.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Applying without reading the department’s eligibility criteria.
- Depositing the fee in the wrong bank or with the wrong amount.
- Sending an incomplete postal form (missing photo, unattested documents, or missing challan).
- Waiting for a courier slip — PTS slips are online only now.
- Name spelling mismatch when searching the slip — use CNIC search instead.
- Attaching a poor CV where required — build a professional one free with our CV Maker.

FAQs About the PTS Test 2026
What is PTS and is it a government body?
PTS (Pakistan Testing Service) is a testing organization that government and semi-government departments hire to conduct their recruitment and screening tests. PTS itself is not a recruiting department — it conducts the test and shares results with the department that announced the jobs.
How do I download my PTS roll number slip 2026?
Visit www.pts.org.pk, open the Roll Number Slip section, select your project, enter your 13-digit CNIC without dashes, and download the slip. Slips usually appear 7 to 15 days before the test. Online download is the only valid method — courier delivery has been discontinued.
How much is the PTS test fee?
There is no fixed fee — every project has its own fee mentioned in its advertisement, paid through the prescribed challan at the named bank. The fee is non-refundable. Always confirm the exact amount from your project’s latest advertisement before depositing.
Can I register on the day of the PTS test?
No. According to the official PTS FAQ, same-day registration cannot be entertained. You must register before the deadline announced for your project, otherwise you will not receive a roll number and will not be allowed to sit in the test.
What items are banned inside the PTS test center?
Calculators, mobile phones, smart watches, books, booklets, and any kind of paper or cheating material are strictly banned. If any such item is found with you during the test, you will be disqualified. Bring only your printed roll number slip, original CNIC, and a ball point pen.
What happens after I pass the PTS test?
PTS shares the result with the recruiting department, which then calls shortlisted candidates for the next stage — document verification, physical test (for police-type posts), or interview. Keep your original documents and paid challan ready, and keep checking both pts.org.pk and the department’s website.
Final advice: PTS tests are your entry gate to many WAPDA, police, and department jobs. Apply early through pts.org.pk, confirm the fee from the advertisement, download your slip as soon as it goes live, and practice MCQs daily till test day.
