Outreachy Internship 2026 Eligibility Criteria

• You must be 18 years of age or older by 7 December 2026. No upper age limit is stated.
• Non-students in Pakistan — graduates, self-taught developers and career changers — may apply to this December cohort.
• Pakistani applicants who are currently enrolled university students are restricted to the May to August cohort, because Pakistan lies in the Northern Hemisphere.
• You must be able to commit 30 hours per week for the full period from 7 December 2026 to 8 March 2027.
• You cannot hold a full-time job, a full-time contracting position or another internship during the internship. Part-time work needs organiser approval.
• You cannot have previously been an Outreachy, Outreach Program for Women or Google Summer of Code intern.
• Students in the eligible cohort must have 42 consecutive days free from school and exams during the internship period.

Outreachy Internship 2026 How to Apply

1. Go to outreachy.org/apply and complete the eligibility check first. Outreachy warns that its student rules are strict, so confirm your status before investing time.
2. Create an Outreachy account with an email address you check daily.
3. Fill the initial application, which asks essay questions about your background and your time commitments during the internship period.
4. Submit before 31 August 2026, 16:00 UTC — 9:00 pm Pakistan time. Late submissions are not accepted.
5. If your initial application is approved, pick a project from the published project list and make real contributions during the contribution period, 5 October to 2 November 2026.
6. Submit your final application by 2 November 2026, 16:00 UTC. Interns are announced on 30 November 2026. There is no fee at any stage.

Important Notes

• Outreachy charges nothing at any stage and pays the intern, not the other way round. Any site asking you for a fee to apply to Outreachy is fraudulent.
• The contribution period is where selection is actually decided. Getting through the initial application is only the first step — real contributions to a project during October are what earn the internship.
• Outreachy itself advises starting two to three weeks before the deadline. With days left, apply now and use the contribution period to build your case.
• The USD 7,000 stipend is paid by Outreachy for the three-month term.
